Given how popular Snorlax has been for the last quarter of a century, it’s no surprise that trainers all over the world are desperate to find Munchlax in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. The Big Eater Pokémon has made an indelible impression on people ever since its introduction to the series way back in Pokémon Gold & Silver — an impression that is even further compounded by just how rare this lad is.
This is true of Pokémon Legends: Arceus as well. While many people have suggested that Munchlax can be encountered in multiple areas, we’ve only been able to verify its presence in a single place. Fortunately, it’s about as early in the game as it could possibly be, meaning that Munchlax can be yours even if you’re still just starting out on your adventure across Hisui.
Here’s where to find Munchlax in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. We’ve also included a brief section on how to evolve Munchlax into Snorlax for anybody in the audience who has plans to do that.
Pokémon Legends: Arceus – How to get Munchlax
The best way to find Munchlax in Pokémon Legends: Arceus is to visit Deertrack Heights in the Obsidian Fieldlands. So far, we’ve only been able to encounter Munchlax at nighttime, although it’s possible that it could spawn at other times during the day. Because of how rare it is, we don’t yet have enough data to concretely say, “It doesn’t spawn in the morning.” We can confirm that we have seen several after the sun goes down, though.
Munchlax is located near the Heights camp, which is where you first meet Wyrdeer in the main story. From the camp, head around 30 degrees northwest until you notice a color change in the map’s topography, which dictates a change in gradient. Munchlax is on a sort of high hill that juts out from the main mountain on its own — we actually managed to find an Alpha Munchlax here, which was nice.

Because of how rare Munchlax is, there’s a very real possibility that it won’t be here when you arrive. If that’s the case, simply fast-travel back to the Heights camp and rest a full day, which will reset all of the spawns across the map. This can also be done for any other rare spawns in Legends — if they’re not where they’re supposed to, head back to your tent, have a nap, and try again later.
Once you catch yourself a Munchlax, the next point of order is to evolve it into Snorlax.
Pokémon Legends: Arceus – How to evolve Munchlax into Snorlax
The only way to evolve Munchlax into Snorlax is by increasing its friendship level. Once you’ve maxed out its happiness and the two of you are best buds, it will finally be ready to transform into the world-famous Sleeping Pokémon.
