Former Texas DB B.J. Foster transfers to Sam Houston State

Former five-star prospect.

Former Longhorn B.J. Foster has announced where he will be transferring to after a very up and down career at Texas.

Foster entered his name into the transfer portal in December, and on Feb. 2  Sam Houston State welcomed him to their class.

The former five-star recruit had a very interesting tenure as a Longhorn, as when he was playing well he provided a hard-hitting savvy safety. He finished his career at Texas with 168 total tackles, 17.5 tackles for a loss, five sacks and five interceptions. He also earned Honorable Mention All-Big 12 honors for this last season in Austin.

However, there were times when he struggled to crack the lineup, which ultimately led to him quitting the team in the middle of the game against UTEP in 2020. He also apparently had effort or attitude issues, which we saw against Kansas State after he was pulled for what was essentially the remainder of the game for his effort on chasing the Wildcats quarterback down on his long touchdown run.

Foster is getting a fresh start on a very talented Sam Houston team that finished last season 11-1, and just two games away from winning the FCS playoff.
