The Texas basketball team is currently in Lubbock preparing to face off with Texas Tech on Tuesday evening.
When the Longhorns bus arrived to the facilities on Monday, numerous Red Raiders fans did not welcome back former head coach Chris Beard with open arms. Profanities and hand gestures surrounded the team bus, and it’s clear that the fan base holds a lot of animosity towards him for leaving their program.
Considering Texas Tech fans have been camped out for days in order to attend this big matchup, along with the expletive-laden welcome to their former head coach, it’s safe to say the atmosphere will be a bit rowdy on Tuesday.

A few days ago, Beard was asked about the Texas Tech fans animosity towards him.
I’m not surprised, it’s part of it, man. Change happens in life. Change is in sports. Again, no regrets. I think we left the job better than we found it, and that’s no disrespect to Tubby Smith because we found it in a really good spot too. But we worked really hard there. There are no regrets at all. I chose to come back to my alma mater and try this challenge, and all of us have the right to make choices.”
Beard continued on by expressing his respect for the fan base in Lubbock and that he looks forward to a competitive game.
