New York Giants second-round pick, Azeez Ojulari, was named to the Sports Info Solutions 2021 NFL All-Rookie Second-Team after his stellar rookie season.
The 50th overall draft pick in the 2021 NFL draft came in and made an instant difference in New York. Through 13 starts, the former Bulldog recorded 49 tackles (29 solo), 14 QB hits (second on the team) and a team-high 8.0 sacks.
The Giants were lacking a true edge rusher and Ojulari came in and fulfilled this role instantly as he recorded a sack in his first three NFL appearances. While he cooled off from his record pace, Ojulari still finished with five sacks in his last 14 contests which was a very modest amount for a rookie.
His total of eight sacks placed Ojulari third on the leaderboard for rookie sacks only behind Defensive Player of the Year candidate Micah Parsons and Miami Dolphins rookie Jaelan Phillips.
Ojulari’s youth and talent have placed him as a cornerstone for this franchise going forward. With the incoming rebuild, few players on this team will be safe but Ojulari will surely be one of them.
If the Georgia product can improve on his promising rookie season he can eventually place himself among the league’s best edge rushers.
