Saivion Smith, we hardly knew ye…
The Lions parted ways with cornerback Saivion Smith, waiving the second-year CB on Thursday. It comes after just two games and minimal playing time.
Smith first arrived in Detroit just after Week 14 when the Lions claimed him off waivers from the San Francisco 49ers. He was brought in to help with a major rash of injuries and a COVID-19 outbreak at the position. In two games, Smith played a total of 14 snaps on special teams, recording one tackle. He never appeared on defense.
Detroit also restored wide receiver Geronimo Allison to the practice squad after he cleared COVID-19 protocols and was activated from that reserve list.
