Here’s how the Dolphins can become the sixth seed in Week 17

Only three games this weekend.

With two weeks left in the regular season, the Miami Dolphins currently hold the seventh seed in the AFC after starting the season with a 1-7 record in their first eight games. Their winning streak has certainly helped, but if they want to play postseason football, they still have some work to do.

Heading into Week 17, the Dolphins have an 8-7 record. They’re tied with the Las Vegas Raiders, Los Angeles Chargers, and Baltimore Ravens, but Miami currently has tiebreakers over all three teams. The New England Patriots are one game ahead of these teams at 9-6, and they’re currently the sixth seed.

For Miami to move up one spot and flip with New England, they will have to beat the Tennessee Titans on Sunday. That’s no easy task. However, they’d also need some help from two other teams. They’d need the Jacksonville Jaguars to defeat the Patriots and the Indianapolis Colts to beat the Raiders.

The Raiders could catch Miami due to tiebreakers if they win this week, and New England’s loss would have the two teams tied going into the final week of the regular season where they play each other.

Dolphins fans will need to be rooting against the Patriots even more than usual this weekend.
