Four-star wide receiver Johntay Cook II announced the top seven schools left in his recruitment on Tuesday.
The DeSoto native is rated the No. 6 wide receiver in the 2023 recruiting class and the No. 6 overall prospect in the state of Texas, according to 247Sports.
Texas originally extended an offer to Cook on Oct. 22, 2020 and he has since become one of their priority targets for the 2023 cycle. The speedy playmaker has visited Austin numerous times, most notably with five-star quarterback Arch Manning in June.
Alabama, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, LSU, Clemson and Ohio State made the cut alongside Texas.
