The Arizona Cardinals brought in veteran cornerback Bashaud Breeland with the intent of signing him, as they have dealt with injuries at the position. Robert Alford is on injured reserve with a pectoral injury and Marco Wilson went down with a shoulder injury in the team’s 22-16 loss to the Indianapolis Colts.
But Breeland did not sign.
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, he tested positive for COVID-19 upon arrival and entered protocols. Now he must wait until he is cleared and the plan is he will sign at that time.
Of course, that does mean he is losing practice time.
Breeland played 13 games for the Minnesota Vikings before being released. He had two interceptions, five pass breakups, two forced fumbles and 63 tackles on the season.
He will be an able addition to the Cardinals’ secondary once he is signed. He was the No. 1 cornerback for the Kansas City Chiefs the last two seasons when they went to the Super Bowl both years.
