Usually when a parent sees their child score in a sporting event, there’s a major outpouring of positive emotion for a job well done. But not if you’re Shawn Jefferson!
During “Monday Night Football” with the Arizona Cardinals and Los Angeles Rams deadlocked at 13-13 in the third quarter, Van Jefferson broke open the tie for the visitors. Rams’ quarterback Matthew Stafford tossed a dime of a pass downfield to Jefferson for a 52-yard strike, giving Los Angeles the lead once more.
Not only was the touchdown an awesome one, the reaction of Shawn Jefferson — current wide receivers coach for the Cardinals and father of Van — is one you can’t miss.

I love everything about that reaction, from Jefferson’s disgruntled face to his animated gesticulations even though the Cardinals offense wasn’t even on the field at the time! That’s competitiveness right there.
In a segment from ESPN, Van Jefferson reportedly said that he hoped his father would be proud of the player he had become, even though they’re standing on opposing sidelines.
Father and son. Opposing sidelines.
Shawn Jefferson is the @AZCardinals’ WR coach and he just watched his son @VanJefferson12 score a 52-yard TD.

Though in the moment it’s clear Shawn Jefferson wasn’t the most pleased at his team for conceding a touchdown to his son, but there’s no doubt he’s also very, very proud.
