Report: Giants’ Darnay Holmes out several weeks

New York Giants CB Darnay Holmes is expected to miss several weeks after suffering a rib injury in Week 12 that required hospitalization.

New York Giants cornerback Darnay Holmes had been playing better of late and that culminated with a points-saving interception on Week 12 against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Unfortunately, that interception came with a downside for Holmes.

Eagles offensive tackle Jordan Mailata, who weighs in excess of 350 pounds, came down squarely on Holmes’ chest following the INT. Immediately, it was clear the young cornerback had been injured. He subsequently left the game and would not return.

Zack Rosenblatt of NJ Advance Media now reports that Holmes suffered a rib injury and is expected to miss several weeks.

The hit was significant enough to hospitalize Holmes over night. And yet, despite all of that, head coach Joe Judge refused to rule Holmes out of a Week 13 game against the Miami Dolphins.

“We don’t have anything right now that we would rule anybody out. We’re hopeful for all the players right now,” Judge told reporters.

That hope may be more focused on some of the other players who didn’t suit up last week as opposed to guys like Holmes, who is seriously injured and highly unlikely to play for a little while.
