Kansas State at Texas odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Friday’s Kansas State Wildcats at Texas Longhorns odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

Kansas State Wildcats (7-4, 4-4 Big 12) will take on the Texas Longhorns (4-7, 2-6) Friday in Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for noon ET. Below, we look at the Kansas State at Texas odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

The Texas Longhorns dropped an embarrassing game against Kansas two weeks ago. They lost at West Virginia last week for a sixth consecutive defeat.

This team is not “that” bad. After starting 4-1, the Longhorns are now 4-7. Their strength is in their rushing and their weakness is in their rushing defense, respectively averaging 198.1 yards on the ground and allowing 199.2 yards per game to their opponent.

The Longhorns are 4-7 against the spread (ATS), while the Wildcats are 6-4-1 ATS. Both teams are 5-6 on the Over/Under. Kansas State’s strength is in its rushing as well. Defensively, it actually defends the rush well.

Kansas State at Texas odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Texas 31, Kansas State 24

Money line

PASS.

I like Texas to snap its six-game losing streak, especially at home, but I don’t like a -150 value on an outright victory though. Look toward the spread for value.

Against the spread

BET TEXAS 2.5 (-122) as it has been a far better team at home.

It is 3-2 at home this season, and it plays at an electric stadium with a die-hard fanbase. It’s going to be difficult for Kansas State to leave with a win.

The Wildcats lost by double figures to Oklahoma State, Iowa State and Baylor.

Texas is averaging almost 36.5 points per game. If it can hold the K-State rush game down and outrun the Wildcats as it did with West Virginia, it will have a chance to succeed.

I’d bet Texas will do just that and cover the spread as well.

Over/Under

“LEAN” to the OVER 52.5 (-110) as Texas’ dynamic offense should force Kansas State to keep pace.

The Longhorns have scored over 30 points in almost half of their games. Ranking 30th in in rushing yards per game, they should be able to move the ball easily.

As for Kansas State, it is also no easy challenge for a defense. It ranks 73rd in rushing yards per game and has topped 30 in three of its last four games.

Given the rushing prowess, I expect an offensive outbreak in this one.
