The UFC featherweight contender picked up a unanimous decision win over [autotag]Billy Quarantillo[/autotag] at Saturday’s UFC 268. Burgos (13-3 MMA, 6-3 UFC) outpointed Quarantillo (16-3 MMA, 4-1 UFC) 29-28 on all three judges’ scorecards.

The featherweight bout was part of the UFC 268 main card at Madison Square Garden in New York. It aired on pay-per-view following prelims on ESPNews and early prelims on ESPN+.

The fight was high-paced right from the bell.

Both Burgos and Quarantillo stood in the pocket and traded shots. It was extremely competitive with both fighters connecting flush on each other. Quarantillo did try to take Burgos down a couple of times but was unsuccessful. Burgos would wobble Quarantillo towards the end of the round and briefly stun him, but Quarantillo recovered quickly.

The second was very much like the first. It was all contested on the feet, as Quarantillo was unable to take down Burgos in his attempts. Burgos did have a good amount of success with leg kicks and they were wearing on Quarantillo. Towards the end of the round, Burgos rocked Quarantillo and had him wobbly against the fence. The bell rang before Burgos could do any further damage.

Burgos’ momentum carried over in the third. He seemed to be the fresher fighter and the more active one as well. Quarantillo had good moments, but Burgos appeared to do the most damage. Once again, Quarantillo was unable to find success in his takedowns and Burgos pulled away.

With the win, Burgos snapped a skid that had him winless for a year and a half. He was coming off consecutive defeats to top contenders Edson Barboza and Josh Emmett. It was the first time in his career he had back-to-back losses. Burgos is now 6-0 fighting in New York.

Meanwhile, Quarantillo falls back in the losing column after having bounced back from a decision loss to Gavin Tucker with a TKO victory over Gabriel Benitez in July. Quarantillo is 9-2 in his past 11 MMA bouts.
