Brooklyn Nets report card: Player grades for the Nets’ fifth-straight win

The Nets extended their winning streak to five games, but the Pistons made things difficult on Friday night.

The Brooklyn Nets’ winning streak extended to five games on Friday night, but the victory did not come easy at the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit.

Following an extremely low scoring first half, where each team scored just 39 points, Brooklyn found their groove and put up an outrageous 39-point quarter. Kevin Durant (29 PTS, 10 REBS) was able to spark that run for the team, but when things got chippy in the fourth period, Detroit made things close.

LaMarcus Aldridge (16 PTS) was key to maintaining a lead, scoring all of the team’s points to open the fourth. In the final minute, while clinging onto a three-point lead, Blake Griffin (13 PTS, 5 REBS) drew a clutch charge with less than a minute left and the Nets were able to capitalize off of it.

The ball went to Durant on the next play as expected and he sunk a dagger. Some late free throws and defensive stops capped off the night for Brooklyn and Durant recorded a franchise record of nine straight 20-point games to start a season.

As for his running mate James Harden (13 PTS, 10 REBS, 10 ASTS), he passed Larry Bird on to take the 7th spot on the all-time triple-double list. Harden also passed Clyde Drexler on the all-time scoring list at #32.
