The New York Giants are just about at the halfway mark of the 2021 season and after Monday night’s 20-17 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, are headed back in the wrong direction as far as the ranks of the NFL go.
However, if you’re a fan who is looking at losses as a good thing, then this was good news day for you. The Giants climbed up (or down, depending on how you look at it) the board for the 2022 NFL draft.
With the loss to the Chiefs, the Giants are now projected to select fifth overall. And with the Chicago Bears losing to the San Francisco 49ers, New York would also have the 11th overall pick, per Tankathon.
The teams currently projected to select ahead of the Giants are the Detroit Lions, Houston Texans, Miami Dolphins (goes to the Philadelphia Eagles) and Jacksonville Jaguars.
The Washington Football Team, who are also 2-6, are right behind the Giants with the sixth overall pick because of the 30-29 victory they have from Week 2. Washington also has a few percentage points more than the Giants as far as the remainder of strength of schedule goes.
