Auburn cornerback Roger McCreary has had an amazing year and NFL scouts are all about it.
Matt Miller of The Draft Scout released his mid-season mock draft and has McCreary as a mid-first-round pick. He has him being drafted by the Atlanta Falcons with the 12th overall pick.
Here was Miller’s reasoning.
It’s just a little early for the Falcons to go quarterback of the future unless they really love Desmond Ridder—and they could by late April. For now, we have the Falcons continuing to play the “best player available” game given that Matt Ryan is locked in for at least the 2022 season. Roger McCreary has legit shutdown qualities and is a value at No. 12 overall.
The Tigers have had a nice run of early defensive backs being taken early in the NFL draft but if McCreary were to go at 12, he would be the earliest Tiger defensive back drafted since Carlos Rogers was taken ninth overall in the 2005 NFL draft.
