The Jacksonville Jaguars made a few transactions Friday before their game against Seattle by placing rookie defensive lineman Jay Tufele on injured reserve and filling his spot by signing offensive lineman K.C. McDermott.
The #Jaguars signed OL KC McDermott to their active roster. He was on their practice squad. They brought him up for the Dolphins game WK 6.
The team also announced that DL Jay Tufele was placed on IR. He had hand surgery recently & it appears he’ll need time to recover.

Tufele recently had hand surgery after sustaining an injury during warmups before the Jags took on the Miami Dolphins. The Jags made him active for just the second time this year, but he had to sit out of the game due to the injury. On Monday, Jags coach Urban Meyer said Tufele would be “back in a few weeks,” but it appears they now feel he needs at least three weeks of recovery time.
As for McDermott, he was on the Jags’ practice squad before being signed. The team also promoted the fourth-year player against the Dolphins, but now he’ll be an active roster backup for the team as they are without Brandon Linder (MCL and high-ankle sprain) and A.J. Cann (who the Jags say won’t return this season with an MCL injury).
McDermott has played in eight total games for the Jags since going undrafted to them in 2018 out of Miami (Fla.). He saw five snaps on special teams for the Jags in his last appearance against the Dolphins, so that number could increase now that he’s signed to the active roster.
