Is Auburn’s Roger McCreary the best shutdown CB in the SEC?

There are bigger names who get more attention, but Auburn’s Roger McCreary is proving he might just be the SEC’s best corner

You’d be forgiven for guessing LSU’s Derek Stingley Jr., or even Florida’s Kaiir Elam. But neither one of them lead the SEC in forced incompletions since 2019.

That title is currently held by Auburn’s Roger McCreary, who has made 23 passes fall to the ground over the past few years.

While Stingley is widely regarded as the top overall cornerback prospect in the 2022 NFL draft class, and Elam is considered a first-round lock, McCreary still isn’t getting the national attention he deserves as one of the top cover men in all of college football.

McCreary’s Tigers will face Matt Corral and the Mississippi offense this weekend, giving him yet another chance to prove himself among the nation’s best.
