The injured reserve has felt like a bank of sorrows for the Carolina Panthers lately. An ongoing slew of injuries have the team seemingly always depositing and withdrawing players over the past month.
Thursday, unfortunately, saw yet another deposit.
As first reported by Joseph Person of The Athletic, the Panthers have placed defensive tackle Daviyon Nixon on the injured reserve. Nixon sustained a knee injury during yesterday’s practice.

The rookie initially popped up on the Week 8 injury report as “limited” upon Wednesday’s setback. His “did not participate (DNP)” designation for today, obviously, was a sign of things to come.
Nixon has played in each of Carolina’s seven games as a rotational piece this year. The fifth-round pick has totaled half a sack, nine combined tackles and two quarterback hits.
Fellow rookie defensive tackle Phil Hoskins will likely slip into Nixon’s spot in the rotation moving forward. Hoskins has yet to log an official NFL snap.
