It’s easy to understand anyone who raised an eyebrow at a tight end going No. 4 overall in the 2021 NFL draft.
But to simply call Kyle Pitts a tight end would sell the Atlanta Falcons phenom short.
“Playmaker” or “offensive weapon” are more suitable for the rookie superstar, who is already making the kind of impact the Falcons were hoping for when they made him a top-five selection back in April.
His performance in Sunday’s last-second win over the Miami Dolphins was just the latest example of Pitts putting his rare skill set to good use. Pitts led the Falcons with seven receptions for a whopping 163 yards, averaging 23.3 yards per catch.
And he did it in style:

With Julio Jones gone, the Falcons were banking on Pitts being able to replace his impact on the offense. Those are huge shoes to fill, but Pitts is off to an incredible start.
