Panthers Week 6 injury report: RB Christian McCaffrey out vs. Vikings

RB Christian McCaffrey will be sidelined for his third straight game this week when the Panthers host the Vikings. This’ll mark his 16th absence over the team’s last 22 games.

Carolina Panthers left tackle Cameron Erving was right. This team isn’t the “Carolina Christian McCaffreys.” That’d be a pretty hard sell considering the fifth-year running back is hardly on the field of late.

As announced by head coach Matt Rhule on Friday, McCaffrey’s strained hamstring will keep him out of Week 6’s contest against the Minnesota Vikings. This will be the third straight game, and 16th out of the last 22, he will be sidelined for.

Here’s the final injury report heading into Sunday:

Injury Wed. Thurs. Fri. Game status
LB Shaq Thompson Foot DNP DNP DNP Out
T Cameron Erving Neck Full FP FP
RB Christian McCaffrey Hamstring Limited DNP DNP Out
CB C.J. Henderson Shoulder Limited LP FP Questionable
LB Kamal Martin Concussion DNP DNP Out
G Deonte Brown Knee Questionable

Rhule, however, did state that he wouldn’t consider this latest status for McCaffrey to be a setback.

Thompson, also as expected, will not suit up. This’ll be the second outing he’ll be sitting for due to the plantar fascia injury.

Erving himself will be good to go. He will slot back into the starting left tackle position after his absence in the 21-18 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, giving way to Taylor Moton’s return to the right side.
