Report: Colts RB Marlon Mack generating trade interest from Chiefs

The Chiefs have reportedly inquired about trading for Colts RB Marlon Mack.

Indianapolis Colts running back Marlon Mack is on the trading block and it appears there has been some interest from the Kansas City Chiefs about a possible deal.

With the trade deadline less than a month away, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported that the Chiefs are looking into a potential trade acquisition of Mack from the Colts.

The feeling around Indianapolis is the Colts want to do right by running back Marlon Mack, who has requested a trade, but there is not much interest just yet. Things could pick up closer to the deadline, and a conditional late-round pick probably gets it done.

Meanwhile, the Kansas City Chiefs have looked into Mack, too. Clyde Edwards-Helaire is expected to miss extended time because of a knee injury suffered Sunday, so perhaps they add Mack to pair with Darrel Williams and Jerick McKinnon.

This was reported before the news that the Chiefs placed Clyde Edwards-Helaire on the injured reserve list due to a knee sprain he suffered in the Sunday night game against the Buffalo Bills.

The Chiefs still have Darrel Williams to lead the backfield while Jerick McKinnon will be used sparingly as well. Adding Mack to the rotation would beef up the depth in the room.

Ever since Mack requested a trade after he was a healthy scratch in Week 3, he’s been getting more work as a change-of-pace back. That said, the Colts are clearly rolling with the two-headed monster that is Jonathan Taylor and Nyheim Hines.

The Colts won’t just give Mack away for anything but it should be expected that they’ll seek a deal for either a cornerback or a late-round future draft pick.
