The Detroit Lions are in a rebuild year, but they’re still playing competitive football.
That trend for their season continued today with a last second, 19-17 loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. The Vikings won at the buzzer, but the Lions made it interesting by going for, and completing, a two point conversion just seconds before the Vikings iced the game.
This is what a coach in charge of a rebuilding team should be doing. Show faith in your players and give them a chance to win. Instead of trying to take the game into overtime tied at 16 after a touchdown, Campbell decided to go for two and get the Lions their first win of the year.

In the long run, this isn’t the worst thing for the Lions. They’re playing watchable, competitive football and they’re still on track to have a premium draft pick in 2022.
Hang tight, Lions fans. Better days might be coming.
