Texans vs. Bills: Point spread, over/under for Week 4

The Houston Texans take on the Buffalo Bills, and oddsmakers are forecasting a lopsided affair.

The Houston Texans get back in action with their rookie quarterback as they take on the Buffalo Bills following a 10-day break.

The Texans need all the extra rest they can get as they take on a 2-1 Bills squad that is intent on defending its AFC East crown while also qualifying for the Super Bowl. The Bills were a game away last year, but came up short at Arrowhead Stadium against the Kansas City Chiefs. Every win Buffalo can stack goes towards the all-coveted home-field advantage.

How do oddsmakers see the Week 4 encounter going?

According to Tipico, the Bills are favored by -16.5 points, representing the largest odds of the week. The next-closest odds are the New Orleans Saints (-7.5) at home against the New York Giants, and the Cincinnati Bengals (-7.5), also at home, against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

In terms of point total, the game is at 46.5, which is tied for the eighth-highest point total of Week 4. The way the over/under is positioned, it appears that oddsmakers expect the Bills to do a lot of the scoring to contribute to the 46.5 point total.

What is influencing the odds is rookie quarterback Davis Mills. Albeit he did not commit a solitary turnover against the Carolina Panthers in the Week 3 loss at NRG Stadium on Thursday Night Football, he also didn’t drive the ball downfield. Mills was 19-of-28 for 168 yards and a touchdown. Coach David Culley admitted that was due to their being over protective with the rookie. If they open it up against Buffalo on the road, it could become a 60-minute welcoming of Mills to the NFL.
