You’ve got to give it to the NFL, honestly. This is why it’s the king.
The Buffalo Bills are fresh off a 43-21 win against the Washington Football Team. Instead of talking about that, let’s take a trip down memory lane.
But not that far down it.
Remember two weeks ago?
At that point, the Bills (2-1) were not defending their AFC East crown. Buffalo laid a complete dud. losing their season opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers and they trailed the Miami Dolphins in the divisional standings.
The Steelers entered the 2021 season on the exact opposite note. After starting out last season on fire, Pittsburgh cooled off and exited the postseason in the first round.
Was the script flipped? Could the Steelers be the AFC powerhouse over Buffalo?
The Bills were hopeful to crack the Super Bowl a few weeks back and that happened.
Turns out: Nope. Buffalo is hopeful for that once again. Overreaction Monday can be a hell of a drug after one game, can’t it?
In Week 3, the Bills dismantled the Football Team in a game that wasn’t even as close as the scoreboard suggested. That comes after Buffalo beat the Dolphins by an appropriate looking total, 35-0, in Week 2.
While we’re here taking a look in this recent past, let’s take a second to recognize how silly some of us now looked after Week 1.
Same old Bills now going backward after a promising 2020? As Dennis Green put it: They are who we thought they were.
Specifically, the Bills are a team that is, bare minimum, among the best in the NFL that will roll over subpar competition as Miami and Washington proved to be. A team with a superior offense led by a quarterback in Josh Allen who casually scored five times in one game.
And, as we probably should’ve realized after opening day, this is a team that’s just getting started. Let’s remember this after future shortcomings.
