POSTGAME REPORT: Alabama answers questions in monster 56-14 win over Southern Miss

Alabama gets the win and makes corrections ahead of Ole Miss.

The top-ranked Crimson Tide left Gainesville last week with a win over the Florida Gators, but didn’t look like the dominant team they usually are. Questions were brought up regarding quarterback Bryce Young’s abilities and whether the defense can maintain intensity throughout the entire game.

Well, in Alabama’s 56-14 win over Southern Miss, Young’ talent was at the forefront, and the defense showed no sign of slowing down at any time during the contest.

Only two incompletions for Young, he landed 20 passes into the hands of his receivers for 312 yards and five touchdowns. He did throw his first career interception, however it was a pass that hit Jameson Williams straight in the numbers, but bounced off of his body and into the hands of a Southern Miss defensive back.

Alabama’s receiving corps was led by Jahleel Billingsley, who caught five passes for 105 yards and a touchdown. Williams, though, reached the end zone three times, but only one was a receiving touchdown. He scored on two very deep kick return touchdowns.

The Alabama defense had a few mistakes, which ultimately resulted in Southern Missing getting two scores on the board.

Golden Eagles quarterback Ty Keyes completed 11 of 24 passing attempts for 131 yards and two touchdowns and an interception.

The ground game never got going for Southern Miss, 33 carries only led to 82 total rushing yards.

Alabama will be back in action net week at home against SEC West rival, Ole Miss.
