LSU head coach Ed Orgeron prefers the later kickoff times

Coach Ed Orgeron likes the later kickoffs for games.

On Saturday the LSU Tigers will venture into Starkville, Mississippi, for an SEC clash with the Bulldogs. The kickoff time is set for 11:00 a.m. CDT, but is that a time that the head coach Ed Orgeron prefers?

“We have to like it,” Orgeron said. “It’s different. It’s challenging, but we’ve done well with 11 a.m. We’ve played in bowls at 11 a.m. and we get our team up. Our team does a good job. Me, personally, 2:30 or 6:30, I think there’s a better chance for the team to wake up, the crowd is more lively, but hey if we have to play at 11 then they have to play at 11, so can’t use it as an excuse.”

Depending on where the opposing team is coming from or where you are travelling to, the early kickoff can be a hassle. It all comes down to personal preference, I think fans like a later kickoff as well. This is the first time this season that the Tigers will kick off in the early slot. Last season the team lost to Missouri from the 11:00 a.m. slot and beat Arkansas later in the season.

The team needs to be ready to roll early for this game, they don’t want to head into week five against Auburn with a 2-2 record and 0-1 in SEC play if they can help it.
