No. 1 Alabama enters week four of the college football season with a 3-0 record. Last Saturday Alabama narrowly escaped Gainesville, FL with a 31-29 victory over the Gators.
Now the Tide returns home for a non-conference matchup against the Southern Miss Golden Eagles. Southern Miss enters the contest with a 1-2 overall record.
Alabama and Southern Miss are familiar opponents. The two programs have met a total of 46 times, dating all the way back to 1947, a matchup that Alabama won 34-7 in Birmingham, AL.
Overall, Alabama owns the series with a 35-6 series advantage. The two programs also have two ties with each other.
Perhaps the most shocking fact about this series is that Southern Miss won two straight games against the Tide in consecutive years back in 1953-54.
The two schools last met in 2019, a contest Alabama won 49-7.
