The New York Giants welcomed fans back to MetLife Stadium for the first time since 2019 this past Sunday, and it turned out to be an underwhelming experience.
The Giants had the doors blown off them by the Denver Broncos, leading the 80,000-plus fans to rush for the exits midway through the second half.

“We’ve got to earn the fans respect, point blank. These people come out here and spend their hard earned money. They sit in the seats, they cheer for us, they give us energy within the seats. We have to give them something to cheer about,” head coach Joe Judge told reporters after a 27-13 loss.
“It’s not their job to show up and cheer just the cheer. That’s not their job. Their job is to be entertained. They buy a ticket, that means they buy the right to cheer, boo, stay, leave, whatever they want to do. We got to give them something to stay for. We have to give them something to cheer for. That’s on us as a team, we got to do a better job for that.”
The product on the field wasn’t the only thing that left Giants fans sour on Sunday.
MetLife Stadium has transitioned to a digital ticketing system, which slowed entry into the stadium. There were a number of complaints about that and the new cashless system on social media.
But those issues pale in comparison to the experience of at least one Giants fan, who managed to get to his seats long before kickoff and intended to enjoy a hot dog.
The problem? The dog came with a heaping side of squirming maggots.

Delaware North, the official concessionaire for MetLife Stadium, was made aware of the foul food order and tells Giants Wire it was an isolated incident.
“We take the sanitation of our facilities extremely seriously. Upon learning well prior to kickoff Sunday that a single ketchup vessel had been compromised, we took immediate action and discarded the vessel and thoroughly inspected other condiment stations. As an additional precaution, we are sanitizing all condiment pumps and increasing the availability of single-serve condiment packets,” Delaware North said in a statement.
What a rough start for the Giants organization, MetLife Stadium and Delaware North from top to bottom.
