Call it a broken record, call it deja vu, call it the matrix or call it whatever else you’d like, but the New York Giants are stuck in a dire cycle and can’t seem to escape.
With a 27-13 loss to the Denver Broncos on Sunday evening, the Giants have now lost 10 of their last 11 season openers dating back to 2011.

Stop for a moment and really ponder that. The Giants are 1-10 in their last 11 regular-season openers.
That number spans two general managers, five head coaches, four offensive coordinators, four defensive coordinators and a complete 100 percent roster turnover.
The last time — the only time — the Giants have come away victorious in Week 1 over that span was back in 2016 when they defeated the Dallas Cowboys, 20-19.
Ben McAdoo was their head coach and Eli Manning was still the quarterback.
Not only have the Giants lost 10 of their last 11 openers, they’ve now lost five consecutive openers and have also started 0-2 in each of those seasons. And with a short turnaround before a Thursday night game against the Washington Football Team, they could very well be headed toward that same outcome here in 2021.
As many things change in East Rutherford, so very many stay the same.
