The Detroit Lions lost cornerback Jeff Okudah for the rest of the year in Week 1.
Okudah, the former No. 3 overall pick in 2020, suffered an Achilles injury in his team’s season opening 41-33 loss vs. the San Francisco 49ers.
On Monday, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero confirmed that it was a rupture. That ends his season:
An MRI confirmed #Lions CB Jeff Okudah suffered a ruptured Achilles, source said. Season over for last year's No. 3 overall pick, who was coming off a strong camp.

Okudah was looking to rebound in 2021 after a tough rookie season which saw Pro Football Focus rank him as the 129th best cornerback in the NFL out of 136.
Throughout the summer, Okudah was preforming better. Against the Niners, he was having an up-and-down game before injury struck.
The Lions defense, as a whole, didn’t preform great against the 49ers considering the 41 points they put on the board. Okudah did have one pass defended in the contest, though.
Also as a rookie, Okudah’s season ended early after nine games due to a core injury.
