Early in round one, Matthew Stafford has the edge over a defeated Jared Goff.
The Rams’ new quarterback ran a bootleg and threw back across the field to Van Jefferson deep, deep deep in the first quarter Sunday at SoFi Stadium.
The pass was caught by Jefferson. He tumbled and was untouched by a scorched Bears’ secondary. Jefferson got up and rolled into the end zone for a touchdown.
On his first drive as a Ram, the former No. 1 overall pick of the Lions, was 2-for-2, 74 yards, and a touchdown.

That would be called instant gratification.
Meanwhile, earlier, in the day, Detroit and Goff fell behind 38-10 before putting a scare into the San Francisco 49ers. In the 41-33 loss, Goff threw often. He had 338 yards and 3 TDs … and a pick six.
