This a fun way to get an NFL career started. 49ers quarterback Trey Lance, who the team traded three first round picks to get during the 2021 NFL Draft, scored a touchdown on the first throw of his career.
The 49ers are going to be creative with how they deploy Lance all season long, using his athleticism to put themselves in advantageous positions. At the snap, Lance faked a read option look, scanned the field, and found fellow new 49er Trent Sherfield in the endzone for six points.
It’s a lot of eye candy for the Lions defense, which is exactly what Kyle Shanahan had in mind when he and John Lynch made the trade for Lance.
