It’s about time Michigan football gets some respect around here, I tell ya…

The resounding win in Week 1 wasn’t enough, but Week 2’s performance by Michigan football finally got the Wolverines in the good graces of the college football coaches across the country.

The maize and blue were on the outside looking in in both the preseason and after the first week of action. But with a dominant win over the formerly-ranked Washington Huskies — thought to be a solid team on both sides of the ball — Michigan changed the perception of the program after a moribund 2020 campaign.

Meanwhile, some other ranked teams faltered. Ohio State lost at home to Oregon. Texas was shellacked by unranked Arkansas in the worst loss for the Longhorns since before Tom Herman took over the program. USC had a big loss to unranked Stanford. Utah lost to BYU. Notre Dame and Miami won but struggled against perceived lesser foes.

Thus, in the post-Week 2 AFCA Coaches Poll, powered by USA TODAY Sports, there were some changes, which included Michigan football finally entering the top 25. It might not be huge movement, but the Wolverines check in at No. 25 after having been previously unranked.
