The Boston Celtics are likely keeping tabs on potential trades they can make in the 2021-22 NBA season to add a third star to their two All-Star wings. And, they will most benefit from targeting a star who has already made it clear he does not want to remain on the team he is on in order to conserve the assets it will take to pry him loose.
And while it may be the last thing some Celtics fans may want to hear, there is a chance Boston makes a call about an already disgruntled star on the Philadelphia 76ers’ roster, Ben Simmons. For now, the asking price is far too high, but both Simmons and the Celtics could afford to wait — is there a world where Boston ought to trade for Simmons if the price is right?
This is the question du jour for the hosts of the CLNS Media podcast “Boston Sports Beat” A. Sherrod Blakeley and John Zannis, who weigh the pros and cons of such a scenario in their latest episode.
