Moments ago the New England Patriots released veteran QB Cam Newton and will give the rains of the offense to rookie QB Mac Jones.
Jones has had a phenomenal preseason for a rookie QB. His numbers through the first three games are: 36 for 52, 388 yards and one touchdown, and no interceptions.
Jones was selected with the fifteenth pick in the 2021 NFL draft and was set to be the QB of the future for the Patriots. Jones took advantage of his opportunities in training camp and preseason and won the starting job over the former NFL MVP Cam Newton.
