Buffalo Bills activate Jerry Hughes from NFI list

Jerry is back:

Buffalo Bills defensive end Jerry Hughes is set to make his 2021 training camp debut.

Just ahead of the Bills’ training camp practice on Tuesday, the team announced that Hughes was activated off the NFI (non-football injury) list. The workout will be the 11th camp practice of the summer for the team, however, it will be the first for Hughes.

Upon his arrival to training camp, Hughes, soon-to-be 33, failed a physical due to a calf strain.

Since then, Hughes has been spotted watching practice from the sideline but has yet to take part in any workouts.

Without Hughes, the Bills allowed younger players to take first-team reps with the starting defense. Those include rookies Greg Rousseau and Boogie Basham, in addition to second-year pro AJ Epenesa.

Without Hughes, all three have made a positive impressions… and despite the veteran’s return, the Bills run a big rotation along their defense line.

Because of that, all three young prospects, plus Hughes, should still see playing time once the regular season begins to some extent.
