New York Jets QB Zach Wilson heads into his rookie season with sky-high expectations after being the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Below, we look at Zach Wilson‘s 2021 fantasy football average draft position (ADP) and where you should draft him.
Wilson will take the reins of the offense immediately as the Jets shipped former first-round pick Sam Darnold to the Carolina Panthers in the offseason. Only Wilson, QB James Morgan and QB Mike White remain in the Gang Green quarterbacks room. So, it’s sink or swim for Wilson.

In redraft leagues, Wilson has an ADP of 124.91 and has been going off the board as the 24th quarterback, so he has some low-end QB2 value. That means he’ll likely be treated as a backup, injury replacement and streaming option once the bye weeks start to kick in.
Ironically, he has been picked ahead of Carolina’s Darnold, who has a redraft-league ADP of 145.08.

Rushing: 254 yards, 10 touchdowns
Where should you take Wilson in your fantasy football draft?
Wilson’s fantasy value really depends on the format. In redraft formats, he has been picked as a low-end QB2 in leagues with 12 or more teams. That means he is worth picking in the later rounds, and he’ll likely be available as a free agent into the first few games of the regular season.
In keeper-league drafts, Wilson has been the 14th quarterback off the board with an ADP of 36.55. Fantasy managers have really been all over the board in terms of Wilson’s long-term value with some valuing him way more.
The Jets rookie has a solid cadre of receivers with PPR monster WR Jamison Crowder as his top veteran target, and WR Corey Davis joining the mix. WR Denzel Mims is also a solid, young wideout with whom Wilson can develop a nice rapport. The cupboard is certainly not bare for Wilson.
However, it’s going to be a while before he is considered a must-start fantasy option. I’d take him as a flier in the final couple of rounds in redraft leagues, and expect he’ll be on and off the waiver wire for most of the season unless he absolutely exceeds expectations by miles.
No one is expecting that at the moment, however, and glimpses of brilliance with growing pains are more likely.
