Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker headed into Wednesday’s Game 4 of the NBA Finals coming off his worst game of this postseason, and he responded in a big way with a 40-point game — though Milwaukee would win, 109-103.
Still, the night should have ended far earlier for the Suns star.
After sitting for much of the fourth quarter following his fifth foul, Booker entered the game with just over five minutes to go. And with Phoenix up three, Booker was stuck defending a 3-on-1 break with Jrue Holiday driving to the hoop.
Rather than concede the basket and not risk fouling out, Booker legitimately looked like he tried to foul Holiday to stop the bucket. The problem: The refs let play go on.
