New Orleans Saints RB Alvin Kamara has yet to have a 1,000-yard rushing season in his four NFL seasons, but he continues to be one of the most popular players in fantasy football.
He is also one of the most productive offensive players in the NFL. That won’t change this year in 2021. Below, we look at Alvin Kamara‘s 2021 fantasy football average draft position (ADP) and where you should draft him.
Kamara led the league in 2020 with 21 combined rushing and receiving touchdowns. He rushed for a career-high 932 yards in 2020 but has had more than 1,500 total yards from scrimmage in three of four NFL seasons and has had more than 80 receptions every year he has played in the league.
With the retirement of Saints QB Drew Brees, he now becomes an even more critical part of the team’s offense.

Kamara is the fourth-ranked overall player in terms of ADP, ranked behind Carolina Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey, Minnesota Vikings RB Dalvin Cook and Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes.
Kamara is third among running backs and is owned in 50% of leagues. His average pick is 6.68, getting selected as high as first overall and as low as 11th overall. He is one of 19 players selected as high as the first overall pick.

Receiving: 83 receptions, 756 yards
Touchdowns: 21 (16 rushing)
Where should you take Kamara in your fantasy football draft?
In a PPR league, the only other player you should consider first is McCaffrey, who has two 100-reception seasons as a running back and is the third player to have both at least 1,000 rushing yards and 1,000 receiving yards in the same season.
Kamara is capable of that.
However, he has not yet had more than 275 touches in a season and has not played more than 63% of the Saints’ offensive snaps in any season.
There is some unknown entering 2021, though. The Saints no longer have Brees under center. The QB duties will belong to Taysom Hill, Jameis Winston or a combination of the two. How that will affect Kamara’s production remains to be seen.
In four games with Hill starting at quarterback, Kamara rushed for 246 yards and two touchdowns and caught only 13 passes for 91 yards and a touchdown. That is a bit of a red flag, but you have to figure the Saints might lean more on him this season.
I don’t take him first overall. I target a dual-threat quarterback like Lamar Jackson (Baltimore Ravens) or Kyler Murray (Arizona Cardinals) first and then would take McCaffrey.
If Kamara is available in the middle or end of the first round, you better take him. He won’t be available when you select in the second.
