Ohio State landed a fifth-year senior guard from Louisiana late last week as a transfer to add some much-needed scoring and ball-handling in the backcourt. Cedric Russell was a first-team All-Sun Belt performer and should lessen the sting of Duane Washington staying in the NBA draft just a wee bit.
On Friday, it was sources first confirming the move only, but then we got the official word and a release from Russell himself through his Twitter account. He thanked the Ragin’ Cajun family where he spent his career up until now, then turned the page towards Ohio State.
The below Tweet has Russell’s statement in its entirety where he ends things off with the desire to work towards a national championship.

If there’s one thing Russell appears to be good at, it’s scoring the basketball. We can’t wait to see how he molds his game into the program that’s already got plenty to build on from last season.
