Notre Dame has decided it needs another body on its staff to help its chances at getting to the next level. FootballScoop is reporting that the Irish have hired Dre Brown, the director of recruiting at Tennessee, in a role that will focus on recruiting and analyzing the offense. Given his previous role and his four years as a running back at Illinois, Brown is qualified to do what he is being hired for.
Brown was voted the Illini’s offensive MVP during his senior season in 2019. He also won the Bruce Capel Award, which is presented to the Illinois player with the most courage, dedication and accomplishment. That year, he produced more than his previous seasons combined, scoring 10 touchdowns and running for 584 yards on 113 carries. That brought his collegiate total to 162 carries, 902 yards rushing and seven touchdowns.
In an offseason that already has brought Marcus Freeman as Notre Dame’s new defensive coordinator, this is a nice cherry on top barring another hire for Brian Kelly. At this point, you can’t put anything past the Irish.
