Former University of Tennessee tennis player Tennys Sandgren was eliminated at Wimbledon on Wednesday.
He was defeated in straight sets.
Sandgren, who picked up a first round win Tuesday, fell to Alexander Zverev, 7-5, 6-2, 6-3, on Court No. 2 at the All England Club.
The former Vol served eight aces, but had six double faults in the match. He had his serve broken five times as Zverev converted 5-of-10 break points.
Sandgren had one break point and did not win it.
He advanced to the second round after defeating Norbert Gombos, 6-4, 6-7 (5), 6-1, 6-3.
Sandgren is set to compete in doubles with partner Austin Krajicek. The duo will face Alexei Popyrin and Lloyd Harris in a second round match on Friday.
