With picks 6, 16 and 18 in the first round and 34, 36 and 55 in the second, the Oklahoma City Thunder have several pieces to use to either draft a rookie or trade for other players.
The Rookie Wire post-lottery mock draft gave options for the Thunder at each spot.
With the sixth pick, Oklahoma City took Scottie Barnes out of Florida State. Get used to seeing the 6-foot-8 forward’s name come up; he seems like a player who will be near the top of the list for the Thunder.
Barnes, with a 7-foot-2 wingspan, is a versatile player on both sides of the ball.
Rookie Wire analyst Cody Taylor wrote:
“He emerged as a very good playmaker with FSU and had plenty of flashy passes throughout the season. Because of his defensive ability, and overall willingness to do the little things, Barnes has drawn some comparisons to Draymond Green.”
Passing, versatility and length is right up the alley for Sam Presti and Co. Barnes’ scoring needs some work, as he only shot 27.5% from 3 last season, but that’s historically not something that stops the Thunder from drafting a player.
