To put it kindly, Ben Simmons struggled Sunday night as the Philadelphia 76ers were bounced from the playoffs in a 103-96 loss to the Atlanta Hawks in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference semifinals.
Simmons scored only five points and took just four shots from the field in 36 minutes. He took zero field-goal attempts in the fourth quarter and even passed up an open layup at one point. He did contribute 13 assists and eight rebounds, and after the game, he owned up to his shortcomings.
Nevertheless, the top-seeded Sixers are done for the season despite great hope that they could win the franchise’s first NBA championship since 1983.
And Twitter users were witty and harsh with their reactions to Simmons’ performance.
