NBA Twitter celebrates anniversary of Klay Thompson’s historic game six performance vs. Thunder in 2016

On Thursday, NBA Twitter celebrated the five-year anniversary of Klay Thompson’s record-breaking performance in game six of the Western Conference FInals against the Thunder.

During his career, Klay Thompson has gained a bevy of nicknames. Yet, none may be more famous than the legendary “Game 6 Klay.”

With the Golden State Warriors trailing the Oklahoma City Thunder 3-2 in heading into game six of the 2016 Western Conference Finals, the sharpshooting guard went nuclear.

Thompson pushed the Warriors past the Thunder with a playoff-career-high 41 points on 14-of-31 shooting from the floor in 40 minutes. The Splash Brother drilled a postseason record-breaking 11 triples on 18 attempts from long distance. Thompson tallied 19 of his points with five 3-pointers in the fourth quarter alone.

Following Thompson’s heater in Oklahoma City, the Warriors completed the series comeback in game seven, advancing to the NBA Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Five years later, Thompson’s record hasn’t been broken. Friday marked the five-year anniversary of Thompson’s scorching performance against the Thunder.
