Atlanta Braves at Boston Red Sox odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Wednesday’s Braves at Red Sox odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

Following their win on Tuesday night, the Atlanta Braves (24-24) will take on the Boston Red Sox (29-20) in Game 2 of the series on Wednesday night at Fenway Park. First pitch will be at 7:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the Atlanta Braves vs. Boston Red Sox odds with MLB picks and predictions.

LHP Drew Smyly is the projected starting pitcher for the Braves. He is 2-2 with a 5.11 ERA, 1.32 WHIP, 8.0 K/9 and 3.2 BB/9 in 37 IP over 7 starts.

Smyly has allowed three or fewer runs in each of his last three starts, striking out 15 batters in his last 18 innings.

In 11 career games (nine starts) against the Red Sox, Smyly is 3-1 with a 2.35 ERA and 62 strikeouts in 57 1/3 innings.

RHP Nick Pivetta is the projected starting pitcher for the Red Sox. He is 5-0 with a 3.59 ERA, 1.24 WHIP, 9.4 K/9 and 4.5 BB/9 in 47 2/3 IP over 9 starts.

Pivetta hasn’t factored into the decision in his last two starts, allowing four earned runs and two earned runs to the Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Angels, respectively.

He does have 15 strikeouts in his last 11 innings and has only walked two batters in that span. Against the Braves in his career, Pivetta is 5-2 with a 4.74 ERA in 15 games (12 starts).

  • Money line: Braves +105 (bet $100 to win $105) | Red Sox -125 (bet $125 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Braves +1.5 (-185) | Red Sox -1.5 (+150)
  • Over/Under: 10.5 (O: -105 | U: -115)

Prediction

Red Sox 4, Braves 3

Money line (ML)

The Braves extended their winning streak to four games with a 3-1 win over the Red Sox on Tuesday night.

But, Boston now has Pivetta on the mound, who’s been the beneficiary of some great run support this year. In Pivetta’s starts, the Red Sox are 8-1 and have scored at least seven runs five times.

I like the RED SOX (-125) to win this one outright tonight.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

In their last 10 games, the Red Sox are now just 4-6 ATS. The Braves are marginally better at 6-4, with a perfect 3-0 ATS mark on the road in their last three.

I’d give a slight lean toward the Braves +1.5 (-185) but stick to the money line for the better upside.

Over/Under (O/U)

Atlanta has allowed one run in each of its last four games, while the Red Sox have allowed exactly three runs in three of their last four.

Smyly has a strong track record against Boston in his career and should be able to put together a quality start.

With the Over/Under set at 10.5 runs, I like the UNDER 10.5 (-115) tonight at Fenway.
