Always fun to see a player and coach playfully poke fun at one another on social media. Shots were fired by Lincoln Riley and of course, Baker Mayfield responded.
Riley cleverly trolled his former quarterback on Twitter by utilizing a popular video of a little boy leisurely doing his own thing during a baseball game.
Prior to becoming head coach of the Sooners in 2017, Riley was Baker Mayfield’s offensive coordinator for two seasons. Following Riley’s tutelage, Mayfield went on to win the coveted Heisman Trophy and became the Cleveland Browns‘ first overall pick in the 2018 NFL draft.
Since Mayfield left Norman, Riley has led Oklahoma to two more Big 12 Championships and a Cotton Bowl victory. The two formed a bond at OU and there is nothing better than comic relief. To everyone’s enjoyment, Riley chose to jab Mayfield by likening the difficult child to coaching Mayfield.
Exactly how I felt in 2015 trying to coach @bakermayfield to slide… pic.twitter.com/jPiRSHIFnE

Then Baker Mayfield had to respond.
You know it had to be my own idea….
