New York mayor Bill de Blasio is doing whatever he can to encourage his constituents to get vaccinated. And he’s going to desperate lengths. To be clear, desperate times call for measures. We’re still in a pandemic. But while his intentions are very, very good, his efforts are still hilarious.
He made a truly bizarre video of himself eating burger and fries to promote a free Shake Shack meal for vaccinated New Yorkers. And on Tuesday, de Blasio tried a different angle. At the vaccination sites outside Barclay’s Center, the home of the Brooklyn Nets, people can get playoff tickets with their shot. (There are a limited number of tickets.)
To promote this initiative, de Blasio went to a press conference wearing a Nets jersey and hat. It was … quite the look, which led to a lot of jokes on Twitter.

By day, mild-mannered Bill deBlasio is the mayor of the largest city in America. By night, he's… a Brooklyn Net!! https://t.co/soOM526j0c
