Two featherweight up-and-comers will square off at UFC Fight Night on Aug. 21.
[autotag]Austin Lingo[/autotag] and [autotag]Luis Saldana[/autotag] will meet in a 145-pound matchup. The card doesn’t currently have an announced location or venue.
Two people with knowledge of the matchup recently informed MMA Junkie of the booking but asked to remain anonymous because the promotion has yet to make an official announcement.
Fighting out of Fortis MMA under coach Sayif Saud, Lingo (8-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) will look to turn a win into a winning streak. After he lost for the first time in his career in his UFC debut against Youssef Zalal, Lingo won a unanimous decision over Jacob Kilburn in his most recent outing at UFC on ABC 1 in January.
Training out of Fight Ready MMA under coaches Eddie Cha and Santino Defranco, Saldana (15-6 MMA, 1-0 UFC) signed with the UFC after an impressive performance on Dana White’s Contender Series in November. At UFC on ABC 2 in April, Saldana made his octagon debut and extended his winning streak to five when he defeated Jordan Griffin via unanimous decision.
With the addition, the UFC Fight Night lineup for Aug. 21 includes:
- Fabio Cherant vs. William Knight
- Austin Hubbard vs. Vinc Pichel
- Alexandre Pantoja vs. Brandon Royval
- Austin Lingo vs. Luis Saldana
