Rennia Davis recently completed her stellar basketball career with the Lady Vols.
The former Lady Vol picked up another honor Wednesday: She was named Women’s College Basketball Player of the Year by the Tennessee Sports Writers Association.
Davis, a 6-foot-2 guard/forward from Jacksonville, Florida, was recently selected by the Minnesota Lynx in the first round of the 2021 WNBA draft. The Lynx took her with the No. 9 pick.
During her senior season on Rocky Top, Davis averaged 17.3 points and 8.8 rebounds, leading Tennessee in both categories.
She had 10 double-doubles during the 2020-21 campaign and scored 20 points or more 10 times last season for the Lady Vols (17-8).
Tennessee, which posted a victory over South Carolina in Knoxville last season, made it to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
